Memorial Weekend Birding Walk

We started off the season Saturday May 24, with a wonderful early morning bird walk lead by Mark Vail on Spring Migrations, Bird Habits, and Habitats. This walk is a Memorial Weekend tradition at the WMC and follows a route from the Old Hardware Store, past the softball field, up to the airstrip and back to town (this year via the Copper Valley Telephone tower) and out to Clear Creek. Thanks to everyone who came and to Mark for offering his expertise and waking up early to make coffee and coffee cake!

We observed the following list of birds this year:

  • Tree Swallow
  • Violet-Green Swallow
  • Yellow-Rumped Warbler
  • White-Crowned Sparrow
  • Common Raven
  • American Robin
  • Wilson's Warbler
  • Orange-Crowned Warbler
  • Dark-Eyed Junco
  • Common Redpoll
  • Hermit Thrush
  • Ruby-Crowned Kinglet
  • Pine Grosbeak
