Our Mountain Arts and Sciences for Youth (MASY) programs invite youth (and enthusiastic parents or caregivers) to join artists, naturalists, and scientists for a series of workshops for kids designed to connect them with the natural world around them. We design each session to be educational and fun, including games like Predator Versus Prey where kids learn about the food chain.
For this week’s program, join fluvial geomorphologist, Rebekah Levine, for “River Songs” where we can take a walk to look at the streams and rivers right in McCarthy and collect some data on each of them. The kids should be prepared to draw, think, observe, be outside and hopefully stay pretty dry, though wading boots for stream edges may be useful. Rebekah will talk about what the observations can tell us about each river and how each river works to shape the landscapes around McCarthy and the Park!
